Install the PIMS-Platinum Client Application on a Mac
Overview
In a server-client installation of PIMS, users will access and interact with PIMS using the PIMS Client application. Below are the instructions on how to download and install the PIMS-Platinum Client application.
Step-by-Step Walkthrough
If you are re-installing the PIMS-Platinum Client application in attempt to resolve an issue, be sure to delete your existing PIMS-Platinum Client application first. To do this, navigate to your Applications folder, select your PIMS-Platinum Client application folder, and drag it into the Trash.The PIMS Client application folder MUST be installed in your macOS Applications folder in order to run and function properly. If you are attempting to run the PIMS Client from the disk image or from your desktop, please delete your existing PIMS Client before proceeding with the instructions below.
- Verify that the machine you plan to install the PIMS-Platinum Client application on meets the system requirements listed on ExecUtron's website.
- In order to install and run the PIMS-Platinum Client application, Gatekeeper must be set to allow apps from "App Store and identified developers" or be turned off completely. To change this setting, please visit the "Security & Privacy" preference pane in your macOS System Preferences.
- Download the latest version of the PIMS-Platinum Client application from the link below.
PIMS Platinum Client v18 - Once the download is complete, mount the disk image.
- Drag the new PIMS-Platinum Client application folder into your macOS Applications folder.
- Open the PIMS-Platinum Client folder that is now in your Applications folder and double click on the PIMS-Platinum Client application to launch it.
- The first time PIMS is launched after it is installed, GateKeeper may prompt you to approve it. If prompted, click the "Open" button.
- Once launched, the newly installed PIMS-Platinum Client will automatically connect to the PIMS Server on your local network.
As the PIMS Client loads for the first time, you may see several loading bars appear on the screen as the client caches some data. This can take anywhere from a few seconds up to a few minutes depending on the speed of your network connection. Once the process is completed, PIMS will display the normal login screen.
